Frequently asked questions
Budget, lead times, coordination, warranty, and the tax treatment of non-EU vessels. Straight answers.
Budget, lead times, coordination, warranty, tax. Here are our answers, straight. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
It depends on size, initial condition, the level of finish and the share of energy and electronics. For an order of magnitude anchored on real projects: our major refits of 15 to 21 metre catamarans in 2025-2026 ran between 140,000 and 440,000 euros. A partial refit — antifouling, energy, electronics or sale preparation — sits below that. Our handling, storage and labour rates are published on the Rates page.
A full refit of a 15 to 25 metre multihull generally takes 4 to 9 months depending on scope. Compare that with the 24 to 36 month wait on an equivalent new build. The schedule is fixed in the quote, with a written commitment.
A full refit typically represents 30 to 50 percent of the cost of an equivalent new build, in a quarter of the time. The decision comes down to use value rather than immediate resale value: a boat refitted to your hand, available within the year, against a standard new build delivered in two to three years.
Our core expertise is the multihull: Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Bali, Neel, Outremer, Privilège, Catana, Sunreef, Nautitech, Leopard, Rapido, Gunboat. We also work on monohulls and motoryachts in the same size band, up to exceptional aluminium builds. 28 brands handled to date.
Our base is the Canet-en-Roussillon marine hub in southern France, with 4,000 m² of facilities available through our network. We operate across the western Mediterranean, from northern Italy to southern Spain, and arrange delivery passage where needed.
We do. A dedicated project manager is assigned to each boat, from survey to handover. Every trade is carried out by our teams or by a partner we select, integrate and guarantee. One contract, one warranty, one party accountable.
No. Labour is billed at a single rate of 75 euros excl. VAT per hour, whatever the trade. No premium for specialists, no hidden coordination fee. Coordination is our added value: it is built in, not added on.
Possibly. The European inward processing procedure allows works on a non-Union vessel with VAT and customs duties suspended, subject to re-export outside the Union once the works are complete. We verify eligibility with our partner customs broker before any commitment. The procedure must be opened before the vessel arrives.
Full technical winterization (engines, generator, watermaker, water circuits, heads, sails, halyards, batteries, dehumidification) and an active monthly watch with a photo report to the owner. Two formulas: dry or afloat. The quote is issued within 72 hours.
Yes. Every project is documented with photo tracking and regular yard reports through Nexus Tracker. Owners who are not on site follow progress without having to call.
The boat is handed over with its as-built file, digital drawings and a single warranty carried by Nexus Marine on all works — including those performed by our partners. Detailed conditions are set out in our terms of sale and warranty, annexed to the quote.
Yes, in-house. 3D modelling, photorealistic rendering, digital as-built drawings, interior design and structural studies. Every transformation is drawn before it is built — that is what separates a refit from a series of repairs.
